There is absolutely, positively, nothing that compares to The New York City Bagel Experience. My apologies to Montreal… Que Dieu sauve la reine. Kneaded with New York City hands, bathed in the elixir of Empire State Water, it is the best water in the Union. I, like many New Yorkers, go for the bacon, egg, and cheese resting on a toasted everything bagel with salt, pepper, and - this is where it gets personal - one dot of hot sauce as well as maybe a leaf of spinach if they have it. (explanation coming later) The order procedure is key. Enter the facility. Wait for your name to be called. Your name is next. No literally your name is next.
“Next!!!”
1. State the order. “Bacon, Egg, Cheese on a lightly toasted Everything Bagel.”
“Salt, Pepper, Ketchup?”
2. Salt, Pepper, and one dot of hot sauce. Just one dot, not a lot.
Pause… And as my main man O. Small says after placing a food order at any Bodega, sandwich shop or food facility while keeping eye contact: “Fix it like the way you fix it for your wife…please.” … (Tune in for part 2 next week)
